How I found your page: Serching my grandma's maiden name
Comments about the web site: I especially enjoyed your "Ireland and You" pages, and wish I could travel in Ireland. My grandma was a Daugherty (spelled with a, not o), born in 1869, the third youngest of a large family. Her father, Nathan Delaney Daugherty (born in 1833) said their kin came in the 1790s to the USA, probably from the Inishowen Peninsula. Her grandfather, John, may have been born in Ireland, but grew up in or near Lycoming County, and John's father's name is unknown. Nathan Delaney Daugherty, born in 1833, had three older sisters and two younger brothers. (Delaney was his mother's maiden name.) My mother loved him dearly!

Comments about the web site: Your web site is very interesting and informative. I have traced back our family tree to Donegal. Patrick Dougherty and Sara Cassidy emigrated to the province of Quebec in the early 1820 however at this time I do not know what part of Donegal they came from. Several Dougherty's of the second and third generation ( 1850 ) emigrated to the US. I have this information. I hope someday that I can make this information available on the web for those that are still searching. Thank you. Michael N. Dougherty, 539 Daigle, Coaticook, Qc. Canada.

Comments about the web site: Have been on a 30 yr.search for my father-in-law's birth family. He was unofficially adopted by David Doherty and his wife Mary (Bains) of Charlo, Province of New Brunswick, Canada in 1919(at the age of 4). David and his wife were in their 50's when they took him in and renamed him Edward Heath Doherty. He was born in Quebec City, Prov. of Quebec and lived in an orphanage for the 1st 4 yrs. of his life. He has left behind 3 sons, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. There is very little evidence of his adoptive family in the estate, not even a photo, but crystal cutglass bowls, etc. Have you ever heard of this story? Tks. and good job. Best regards, Rachel V. Doherty O'Leary, Prince Edward Island Canada

Comments about the web site: Haven't had chance to browse thru the site yet but, think it's pretty cool to come across some more Dougherty's. I grew up in a real small town and there were actually 3 Dougherty families- none of us ever looked into tracing our roots to see if there was a common thread.

Comments about the web site: I just signed guestbook, hope to learn about two seperate Dogherty/Doherty families within mine. Susan Doherty married James O'Donnell. They had 7 children: Patrick, John, Neal, MaryAnn, Maggie(Margaret)Denis, and Philip. I have no information on James or Susan themselves. I know the children were all born in or around Carndonagh(grandparetnts birth certificates). Their daughter Mary Ann(July 28, 1873) married Patrick Bradley(May 1864 also in Carndonagh parents Bernard Bradley, Mary McGeoghan, siblings Mary(1855) Margaret(1863)(wonder why the big age difference? ) Mary Ann and Patrick married in Boston MA USA after emigrating seperately in late 1880's. St Peters in Dorchester April 17 1902, They went on to have 6 children of whom my mother Margaret was their 3rd. They died in Salem Ma Patrick(1931) Mary Ann (1958) Then there's Patricks family. His father Bernard Bradley: Parents of Bernard : Corneilus Bradley and Mary Dogherty. No information about them either, but children:Bernard(about 1838)Cornelius(about 1840) and Moira(about 1842-44). Thats about it.
